Paint Party Friday...

Hello my sweet friends.
How has this week been treating you.
I have had a pretty nice week.

Besides the fact that I love to
beat my self up about my painting
ability..  I started this week off by watching
a video from my Life Book class. I am
quite behind.  But that's OK..   The particular
class that I watched was on Paint over collage.
You take a image from a magazine and paint
over it.  Well lets just say mine was a bit of a
disaster..  I am going to start that little project over.

I did promise myself I would quit being so hard
on myself.  If I am enjoying the process that's
all that really matters.  And I am enjoying learning
something way out of my comfort zone.
Never in a million years did I ever think I would
be painting.

So I watched another Youtube video
and came up with this little gal..

I really have so much to learn
I have the hardest time with Noses.
I am going to keep making them and I believe
sooner or later I will get the hang of it.
You know the saying Practice makes perfect.

Hair is another be problem.
I just couldn't get it right so I
added some white puffy paint dots to
give it a little something.

I have notice that I seem to gravitate
to neutral colors when I am painting.
Also my last couple of faces I had made really
big lips..  This time I made little lips and big eyes..

So here she is in all her glory.
On this painting I used almost all Watercolor crayons.
And just a little bit of acrylics.

To see what all the other gals have painted
you can head on over to
PAINT PARTY FRIDAY!

Remember back in the day when I watched this little
cutie pie. I would post photos of Myles weekly..
Well my daughter just took some photos
of this cutie pie.  He just melts my heart.
He always has a smile to give you!
Can you believe he is 11 months old already.
They are coming down here for his birthday.
I can't wait..

Also I wanted to give a little shot out to Catherine from
Corner of Cat's Mind..  Thanks so much for my Happy mail.
So sweet of you my friend..

Thanks so much for stopping by.

I really do appreciate all your sweet comments.

Hugs, Linda

Your painting is lovely. Don't be hard on yourself, just enjoy the journey! But the most beautiful pic on the page has to be that little ray of sunshine sitting there and grinning - priceless! Hugs, Valerie

You truly shouldn't be hard on yourself,Linda! I look at your paintings and wish with all my heart that I could paint as well as you. I can't do it at all! And your work is beautiful! I would pay money for this beautiful page. Would frame it and put it up in my home. Truly would. It's gorgeous!

Hi Linda.
Firstly I just love your entry for City Crafters this week. Very romantic and lots of lovely texture.
Your grandson is a poppet. Enjoy your time with him. My Grandaughter was a year old this week :)
Your girl is just lovely. I love her puffy hair. Noses are tricky. I did a course run by Tam - Fabulous Faces - it's really worthwhile is you get a chance.
I've tried painting over pictures before but not found it successful either.
Have a lovely weekend.

She is beautiful!!! I am just so inspired by your creativity! I have not painted in years but I just might need to pull it all out & give it a go again.

Your painting is wonderful! I see nothing wrong with it. I agree with everyone else, don't be hard on yourself. Myles is a sweetie!!! Happy PPF!

Faye said...

It's a delightful painting, Linda. Noses are hard for me too. You are right to say that you should just have fun. I hardly get any feedback at home on my art work. If I show it at all, I will get something like:" OK". No "good work" or "what is it?", just something noncommittal. So I decided I'd just paint for me. If no one else likes it and I do, then that's just fine.

Katy Noelle said...

Heehee! I see that Cat's little thoughtful gift is that lovely green that she loves so well....which is, oh, so festive and apropos, this weekend! ;)

The painting is absolutely adorable! and a million times better than I could do. You and I are telling ourselves the same things about our self estimation of our 'art'. (I'm having a hard time calling my pictures art. LOL!)

Practice makes....there's no such thing as perfect - perfect is boring, anyway.....how about practice is the fun part?

Have a fun weekend! =]

Your page is amazing. I found it to be a lot harder than cardmaking. It is very individual to the artist. I think no 2 look the same. :)

Hugs~

Cynthia Schelzig said...

oh heavens don´t be hard on yourself...each piece we paint takes us to the next piece that has not yet been painted so no matter WHAT you think of it we all need to go there in order to get where we "think" we need to go when we paint....if that makes ANY kind of sense at all:) I think your girl is totally whimsical and sweet. And looook how big Myles got..omg....wow!! that was a nice surprise seeing a foto of him:)
Have a gooooood weekend!!

I like the puffy paint hair! Fun! I have problems getting the highlights in hair. It's hard! So your addition of white puffy paint is fun and I think it adds a little whimsy! Fun! Your nose is far better than anything I draw BTW! I usually just do a curve. Ha ha! The kids at school are like why is there a little c on that person's face Mrs. Duff? hee hee!

I am working on my paint over collage lesson from LB too. I have it all glued down and now have to paint. I am hesitating a bit because when I tried this process before the result was not so great! But, like you said...it is about the process and I want to learn how to do it better! Wish me luck. :)
