What's Holding you back...

Hello my friends I am back to share a little about my so called Truths..
The class I am taking over at Beyond Layers has us looking  inside our self
and seeing if we are living our life to the fullest or are we holding ourselves back.

As I ponder this question I do believe I have held back in some aspects of my life.
I do wish I would have gone to school to be a Teacher.  I know I can still go back
to school and live out that dream, But I think God has another plan for me.

My whole life I always loved to travel.  When I was growing up my parents always
took us camping and I just thought life didn't get much better than that.
We didn't even have a tent.. My three sisters and I would sleep on lawn chairs under
the stars. And I will never forget those times.

Still today I enjoy camping. (As many of you know).  I guess you can say I have
a gypsy spirit and just love being out on the road.  My mom always teases me and
says "so where are you going next month?"

I had always said that when I got married it would have to be to a
guy who loves to travel and camp as much as I do.
And thank goodness I did.. I think my hubby enjoys it just as
much if not more than I do.  It was meant to be.

So I'm going to share with you one of our truths.
When I tell you my truth you are probably going to think I am a little
bit crazy.  And you wouldn't be alone. Sometimes I think its a little bit crazy myself.
But in Less than a year from now my husband and I will be renting out our house
and become full time RV'ers..  We have had this dream for over 10 years
and now it seems like this dream we have been talking about is just around the corner.

I am a little bit nervous, But sometimes you just have to let go of all the what if's and
say what the heck, lets do this.  After all we have been talking about this dream forever.

Have you ever given it much thought?  Is there something holding
you back from your dreams?  What are your truths?

Hugs~

Food for thought....

Your plans to rent your home and be full time RV'ers sounds wonderful. We have retired neighbours who spend as much time away as they do at home. Renting your house out would be a great way to have the security of someone looking after your place as well as some regular income to help with the bills.

What an exciting time in your life....I bet you can't wait to see what adventure is right around the corner. We lived in an RV for a year while we built our house here in NC. Shhh...don't tell anyone, but I actually missed it a little.

Oh...and I believe God is using you right now, right here to bless others and make their days brighter through your photos. I know it blesses me! :)

Fear! Fear holds me back from many dreams! Can you believe that? Now you know something about me that you did not! At least I have gotten on a plane twice this year!! Very baby steps! Love the pictures and your story! I am so happy that Bruce and you will be living your dream! How cool is that? Happy Weekend!

Oh what a wonderful plan...doing what you love, following your dream. Life doesn't get much better than that. My brother and his wife did something similar, sold their home and spent a year sailing. Went from the Texas coast to Aruba and everywhere in-between. They never regretted it. Blessings to you as you make this big step.

Katie said...

Congratulations! Good luck on your adventure, I'm so excited to see where it takes you!

I love it that you are following your dreams Linda! And to have a friend/husband by your side as you follow that dream? Priceless!

So far, the thing that is holding me back from my dreams is my job - really. Gosh a person gets used to having money right? LOL!

Wishing you a beautiful weekend my friend!

Hi Linda, What a lovely post. I kept coming back last night looking for the one that you deleted. So happy to have found this one. I don't think you are crazy, it is a wonderful positive thing to do. See the country and live each day on it's own. Although I really am not a traveler, definitely not a camper, I have thought it nice to sell everything and travel to each location that my husband works and just camp there with the kitties! There are a lot of opportunities out there in life, but you will never find them if you don't look. I think you have made a wonderful choice, my friend and wish all the best!

Next, I am so EXCITED for you, as your dream life is getting closer and closer, I can only wish you all the best in your new phrase of life, and I know you will have no problem adjusting, remember, you are born to be a camper.

Beautiful post my friend!

Well, I'm so happy to get to know you better. I love the idea of RVing all over the place, but that's probably outside of my comfort zone. I hope you're still blogging when you start that adventure.

Linda, you are not crazy to want to live your dream! I can totally relate to your travel bug. We've had two marvelous extended trips with our kids these past two summers, but we've realized that all of this has been just a tiny taste of what's out there. What we've seen just isn't nearly enough!! We've definitely both caught the travel bug and have fallen hard. We've already started talking about traveling the country when we retire, and all of our "someday" retirement talk lit a fire under my hubby and he spent quite a bit of time this past year crunching real numbers to figure out just how soon he could retire. Most of the folks we know just don't get it, but that's OK. We'll be as happy as clams out on the road--and I know that you and your hubby will, too. Wishing you ALL the BEST!!! And congrats for having the courage to live your dreams!!!! (BTW, LOVE your gorgeous photos!!)

You Go girl. I think that is incredible that your doing what you love to do and with the Love of your life right beside you.

I so wish I could live my dreams unfortunately my hubby's health stands in our way to do much of any thing these days. Sometimes life gives you lemons and lemonade without sugar is a little bitter. LOL

oh how ♥AWESOME♥!!! good for you!!! even i--the most NON-camping person IN THE WORLD (ok, maybe ivana trump would be moreso, but it's a narrow margin!) am enchanted by the idea of just TAKING OFF and seeing what there is to see, having the incentive to keep moving and really experience this lovely country "at ground level" so to speak! cannot wait to hear about your adventures and see more of your amazing photos!!! happy travels, my friend!!! ♥♥♥

(ps: have you read the book "blue highways" by william least heat moon? (yes, that is his real name, he is native american!) it's from the late 80's or so, and thus maybe slightly dated now, but he had a sort of similar idea, and the same wanderlust and curiosity and "involvement" in the world around him as you do; and he wrote quite wonderfully about his experiences!!!) ♥

Such good thoughts! Actually, if you don't mind - instead of writing about it, here. I'm going to think about it, through my day. It's a pertinent question - thanks for asking! ;) =]

and, btw, WOW! Go live! =]

I think it's great that you are in tune with knowing that there is more to the plan. I feel the same way. It's almost like being a kid on Christmas Eve. Knowing that something great is about to happen- but you just don't know what it is yet. Isn't that wonderful that the Lord has blessed us with that gift from him?
