The other morning I woke up early and decided that
I would take a little walk down to the lake and see
what I could find.
As I left the campground this is this is what I saw..
In my opinion not too pretty of a site. The wide open desert.
And then I made my way down to the lake.
When I was young my sister and I would always come out to this
part of the lake. Its called Boulder Beach. We always thought it
was named that because... just look at all the rocks!
But they say it's called Boulder Beach because it is close to
Boulder City. I'm still not buying it.
As I was walking along by the lake I spotted these
tree branches full of these weird barnacles.
They kinda look like tiny little shells.
They looked so cool.
If you look close you can see all types of different
little flowers. But from far away they just look like weeds.
See what I mean..
The little flower above looks so pretty close up.
But take about 5 steps away and you can't see them.
The Grasshoppers are everywhere out here. I have
been trying all week to catch a photo of one.
They are not those great big green Grasshoppers.
These are tiny brown grasshoppers that blend
in with the dirt. As I was trying to snap off a
shot of one, this little guy came running by.
He froze just for a moment for me to catch this shot.
And of course there is never a shortage of these little guys
hanging around.
Well yesterday I finally got a photo of this little grasshopper.
They really are so hard to spot. They blend right in with the dirt.
I am pretty sure I will continue to chase these little critters
to see if I can get a better shot.
Thanks for taking a peek at my photos from my
morning walk.. It's amazing the beauty you can find through
the lens of a camera.
I do hope you take time to see
beauty in the little things.
Hugs~
Oh yes and Happy Turkey day to all
my US Friends.

Beautiful pictures, I enjoyed joining you on your walk. Those grasshoppers blend into the background so well, no wonder they are so hard to find. Happy Thanksgiving.
Nature is so amazing; that's why I love macro photography. Something may look ordinary from a distance, but get up close and you can see such amazing, intricate details. Love these!!!
Beautiful photographs Linda and to get that grasshopper is amazing. In the spring in UK we get some wonderful blue dragonflies and hope one day to get a decent photo of them. Hope you are enjoying your trip, hugs Annette x

Great shots Linda! I've never seen "Boulder Beach" look so pretty! So cool you got a shot of that jack rabbit! He's cute! I bet he was just happy he got shot with a camera and not a rifle like I bet happens sometimes. LOL

Your photos always inspire me!! They are gorgeous!!!!!
Oh my gosh, such amazing photo's, you are so inspirational, thanks for sharing. Happy Thanksgiving. Deb x
Excellent captures. Grasshoppers are hard to photograph. I learned that it's all about how slowly you can come upon them. Sometimes, after a time, if they think you're no threat, they'll let you get really close. The secret is SLow. Then again, they're fast in summer here but slow down with the cool fall. So I guess there's two secrets--slow and cool. Hope you have a good Thanksgiving.
What a beautiful collection of photos. I am glad you are having a wonderful time. I hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving. :)
Hugs~

Your pictures are, as always, fantastic! Have a happy Thanksgiving! Valerie
I nearly missed the grasshopper as my attention was taken by the seedling. A lovely place to be sure, all the nicer as it holds special memories for you too.
Aren't our cameras such a gift? It sounds so corny but it's so true - looking through the lens gives us a chance to explore the beauty of the world around us - even when none of the shots come out... at least, we saw it and knew the beauty was there. I'm grateful!
So, through your lens - looks like paradise to me! ;)
Happy Thanksgiving, Lynda!
xxo

Oh I truly would love to go for a morning walk on the beach with you and my camera. Amazing beautiful shots. B
As it's fairly rock-less here in Nebraska, I'm always happy to see rocks and boulders.
Not a big fan of grasshoppers, but you did a great job of finding and capturing this little guy. :)
hello lovely Linda :) felt like I was right there with you... thanks for sharing the beautiful..
You certainly have a knack for capturing the beauty of the desert even when it's hard to find.
I love the way you looked for and found beauty in the tiny things! Your macro images are gorgeous! I love the tiny little pink flowers, they look like little bells!
I´ll say you got the knack alright.
Fabulous shots!! Have a great Monday!
You have really beautifully captured the landscape of where you are, Linda! Feels like I am right there with you! Love it!
One thing I love about photography is being able to get up close and discovering beauty you would have passed by before, like those tiny flowers. What a great walk!
How beautiful these are, Linda!
I especially love the tree branches with the little white "thingys" on them. Really interesting.
I hope you and your family had a wonderful Thanksgiving.
xo.
Thanks for sharing your morning walk. I find the first pic to be fabulous! A beautiful shot of the desert. I miss such wide openness, living in FL with all of its vegetation everywhere! Anyway, a beautiful place you've picked to spend thanksgiving!
These are gorgeous shots!
wow these are so amazing!
Such amazing photos, Linda - wonderful!!
I'm such a fan of macro photography, and you do it so well. There is much to be seen in this big old world when you inspect something with a magnifying glass. I'm glad you shared some of that with us today! Love those teeny pink flowers.
It is so amazing how that grasshopper looks like part of the ground formation - nature is brilliant in its disguise for survival. Looks like you had a wonderful time, and some amazing photos.
