Right out side our window

I have hung my bird feeder.
Within hours we had takers.  The problem is that
our RV is in need of a wash.  My camera kept zooming in
on the water spots on the window instead of the birds.
So this isn't the best shot.

We did get a few sprinkles yesterday.
So I am kinda glad I didn't wash the windows yet.

This is Mittens, my old cat.  She is 17 years old.
And I really don't know how she feels about the move
into Big Bertha.  But she does enjoy watching the
birds right outside the window.

Before the move into the RV she used to
love to lounge outside by our pool.  I do believe she
misses going outside.  I should see if I could put a leash on
her..  I might give it a try.  Can you teach an old cat new tricks.

It's so sad to see her get so old.
She can no longer jump up on any of the furniture.
So we pick her up and put her on the back
of the couch..  Its the perfect view of the birds
at the feeder.

But most days, this is right where you'll find her.
On the rug in the kitchen.  She wouldn't want to miss
feeding time by sleeping somewhere else.

Well, I guess I better get off this computer.
I have some windows to wash..

Hugs~

What sweet pics! We found a couple little kittens under our porch yesterday. I think they're just strays. They were scared to death of us, but I wish I could've picked one up and cuddled her until she knew it would be okay. Sigh. Thanks for sharing pics of your adventures.

Oh! And I told my hubby what you were doing and that we should do the same. My kiddos homeschool and just think of all the places they're learning about that they could see first hand. That'd be way better than a book, but alas, someone would have to fund a move like that ;). LOL!

Glad you got to put up your bird feeder Linda! Mittens looks happy just watching the birdies and basking in the sunshine...ah...a cat's life. Couldn't believe when I saw on the news that Seattle was hotter than Vegas yesterday!...weird huh? I don't think it'll last for long like that do you? :-)

You're already making Big Bertha your home - even the kitty is finding favorite spots (and I don't mean on the windows!).

Your kitty sounds so much like our doggie! It is sad to watch them get old and not be able to do some of the things they once did. Our Molly can still jump up on the couch, but not our bed and she limps and sometimes falls! She also will hang out in the kitchen area as she also will not miss a feeding! I guess we get to take comfort in knowing they got to get old!!! Hugs, my friend!

Am sure Mittens will settle down and be happy. Great photos Linda, xx

I love the bird feeder, Linda, and am happy to know that Mittens is adjusting! She will probably be better in the house at her age, As for leash and outside, it might be fun to try. I moved Tigger twice (he is only 12)and each time he had to adjust. All four of mine were a handful when we moved here, as I can not let them stay out, but rather have to baby sit them! Love all the photo's! Hugs!

awhhh sweet Mittens. We had a cat years ago named Mittie,,,white paws of course:)she lived to be the ripe old age of 19. What a way for Mittens to spend her Golden Years travelling around America...seeing places she never dreamed of... good luck with putting a collar on the little darling:)I hope she can take walks in the mountains with you.

Great pictures. I have feeders outside my craft window too. My 3 cats stare out at the birds and squirrels like it is a movie theater. LOL Hope you enjoy your travels. (I have a feeling that Mittens is happy to just be with you) :)

Aw Linda...your sweet sweet kitty. I had an old female cat named Wednesday who lived to be 16 and she got to where she could not do much at all. I still miss my sweetie.

Pat your sweet girl on the head for me.

Happy to hear all is well Linda! Love all the photos! Your cat is so sweet. It is really hard to watch our pets grow old :( Just doesn't seem right.

I am in LOVE with Mittens! Especially since I am a cat person and have a black and white just like yours! That bird photo is spectacular, spots and all (I didn't see any!) Enjoy your time in Big Bertha!

Hi Linda, glad to hear you are settling in your new home. I can relate to your stories about the cat - our cat is old too and cannot jump onto the window sill either! Beautiful photo of the bird by the feeder, it must make it feel more 'homely' with nature's visitors.
Every blessing to you!

She is a gorgeous sweet cat. I think a little LOVE and HUGS from me, warm her a bit? :). My alpha cat, Sir Paws is 9 yrs young, he no longer the biggest cat at home :). Arthur the youngest, gets so fat he misses his jump nowadays! I hope Mittens is settling well. HUGS.

Sweet Mittens! What a dear! And I love it that you pick her up and put her in good viewing of the birds. And that kitchen mat looks like a perfect place to cozy in the sunshine. Adorable!

So sweet. I'll bet she feels cozy in the new digs. We have a senior dog that we have to pick up and put on beds or furniture. It's so sad when they get older.

LOL Linda, both Mittens and that bird look like they mean business.

Mittens seems to have everything a cat needs, food, a comfortable place to sleep, entertainment (bird watching) and of course loyal subjects.

Awww such sweet pics! I had my Seymour for 14 wounderful years and it wasn't long enough...your cat reminds me of her! How have you been adjusting to Big Bertha?

Awwww, what a sweet, sweet post! I really LOVE to see photos of your new life, Linda, and to hear the stories! I'm sure this new transition is both exciting and terrifying to all. I love that you've hung up your bird feeder. And Mittens looks like she's adjusting very well, indeed. As long as you're all together, that's all that matters!

How wonderful to have the birds come visit. Mittens is a very sweet looking cat. I'm sure traveling in an RV is a big change for her. It's nice that you are taking such good care of her.
I'm curious but why are you traveling in the RV? You may have mentioned this somewhere on the blog but I don't recall reading about it.

I am enjoying hearing about your new life and Mitten's too. Don't get too carried away with washing windows, everytime our car moves, it needs a good wash.

Nicki said...

I think you got a wonderful shot of the bird and your kitty will adjust I'm sure. While you can't teach old dogs - cats are a whole different matter. (yea, I'm a cat person...ok, I love dogs too - but I have cats.)

Enjoy!

I think Mittens has jumped right into a life of leisure. :-) At 17 I think she might be a bit disagreeable about new tricks. Hee hee Hugs!

What a sweetheart Mittens is, Linda!
It truly is so hard to see them get old.
I am a real believer that animals just want to be with their "people" no matter where they are, and she looks quite happy in that window!

Wishing you a wonderful day! xo.

Wow! Is that a purple finch? We have lots of birds in our feeders but it's so hard to get good photos! You did GREAT! Hugs!

hi linda,,,,I would have sent you an email but I could not find it so I will write here....could I try to paint Mittens? If you give me permission I would try to capture such a sweet soul. Or if you have a foto of both your cats together I would try them. Have a good weekend in paradise.

Oh Linda...I am so sad...because I also have a cat of 18 years old but she has lost her sight and partial hearing...nevertheless she is very playful and she eats a lot. YOur kitty is just adorable and she does not show her age...she seems like a young lady of 2 :).

Thanks for sharing the lovely view from your window! That humming bird is absolutely captivating!! Your Mittens is so cute...I know how you feel about the cat getting old. It's the inevitable in life, isn't it? HUGS! Wish you a Happy Mother's Day!

Beautiful pictures of Mittens! I'm sure she'd love to get outside again, exploring the new surroundings and hunting the flying and crawling creatures.

Wishing you a happy day and sending you warm hugs from the other side of the ocean, Wendy

Oh, so glad to see this post. Nothing like an old cat who has mellowed out. We too had to lift Kramer up onto the bed or chair and he had his very favorite spots to sleep the day away. I miss him. But such a delight to read about Mittens!

Lynn Stevens said...

Oh what a sweet kitty. Our little spooky lived to be 18. I sure miss her.
I bet you could get one of those harness's for her so she could be outside a bit.
Hugs Lynn

Lori said...

Beautiful photos! This makes me a little melancholy - my kitty is 14 and I see some of the slow down that you're talking about. Mittens might like a harness better than a collar. One of our neighbors does that and it seems to work really well!

Laura Delegal - Leroy Photography said...

Great bird shot and I didn't notice any spots. You kitty has made a huge adjustment. She may be happy to be outside even with a harness.
