Thinking Out Loud..

When we started on this adventure of ours,
it was to get out of Vegas.  I had lived in Las Vegas for most
of my life and was ready for a change.

We both loved RV'ing and my in-laws were
full time RV'ers for 8 years.  I used to love to listen to their
travel stories and we both knew it was something we wanted to do.
We have been full time RV'ing for two years come May.
Can't believe it's been that long already.

Of course one day we will settle down and buy that perfect little dream house.
But where?  There in lies the question that we love to discuss over our morning cups of coffee.

Rural or  City???

To tell you the truth I am attracted to both types of life styles.
I do love the hum of a busy city with lots to keep you occupied.

BUT

The slow pace of the country style life
sure does sound mighty good as well.

So as we travel around to cities and out to the country.
We keep this question in mind..

Rural or City??

This is a shot from our evening walk down to the Ocean the other night.
I'm thinking the perfect place to live would be a little bungalow right here by the beach.
Does anyone have an extra million they could spare?

So what if you had the choice to live anywhere.
Do you live there? Do you even know for sure where that would be?
Would you choose the big city life or out in the country.

I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Linking up with

 Song-ography

The song this week is
"Thinking Out Loud"
by Ed Sheeran

My post really has nothing to do with this Song about LOVE.
So I'm just going with the title.. THINKING OUT LOUD.

Thanks for stopping by my friends.

Till next time.

Hugs~

Hi Linda~ I'm not sure but I would definitely live by the redwoods and ocean...I do know that much :-) I'm so jealous that you can travel and really see what's out there my friend!

I would not move from where we live now. We have lived in the city and I love the buzz but the country is for me. I am sure you will find the perfect place when you are ready. Enjoy your adventure.

We moved from the city into the country but made sure everything we will need as we age is within 6 miles from us. That's just how we do it. Like I told my husband when we were looking for this home, "we'll know it when we see it" and so will you and your husband. But isn't the looking so much fun? Blessings and safe travels.

I am from North Carolina originally and no longer live there. If I could, I would live in the North Carolina mountains, somewhere below Asheville in the country, but still close enough to go to the city occasionally. Just saying! Have fun choosing your place when the time comes!

I would love to live in the countryside with a city nearby. The perfect match with a city wthin 6 miles. We are now living in the northern part of the city. It's not as hectic as the center but it ain't the countryside either. Maybe one day....or when we win a lottery:)
Hugs sweetie!

Wonderful photos. Love my rural home but it would be advantageous to be closer to a city as I age.

A difficult decision indeed. Both places are so beautiful as illustrated by your amazing pictures.

I'm with you - I do love a mix of both. I grew up in the rural suburbs off the ocean and live in a small city on the edge of Boston now - somehow suburbia is not right but a small city is just right!

Fantastic photos, especially the last one caught my eye. It's a difficult question, country or city, but I think I would choose country, near the beach, with lots of trees, and a nice town not too far away!...Hugs, Valerie

Tough question! Although, I feel like things are pretty perfect where we are now being able to walk to water and we have a view, but it's not "ours" so I guess I'd choose something similar...Kirkland is such a walkable little waterfront town and we've enjoyed living here so much! Enjoy the journey my friend! Beautiful photos!

There is appeal in both, that's for sure. I think I'd favor rural with easy and quick access to a city. We'd have that now if we moved a few miles further out.

Do you have plans to come this way (to Portland) any time soon? Let me know if you do...it would be fun to meet up.

I have always lived in a city .. but would love to live in a rural area!!!

I hope you continue to share your thoughts out loud with us. If nothing else we love to see the photos of your RVing destinations.

I vote for country, but in close proximity to a nice town. That way you can make a quick trip to get groceries, take-out, go to a movie and more.

I think your 'thinking out loud' has everything to do with the concept behind the lyrics of the song. Falling in love, the mystery behind it, and discovering where to continue falling in love.

I can not believe it has been 2 years already - seems like just yesterday you were pulling the plug and taking off.

Wow. 2 years? Has it really been that long? Glad you are living every moment to the fullest.

I grew up and still live in a concrete jungle. So I would choose rural life..that is maybe a short drive to the city/or a few train stops...lol

Oh girl, you asked a question that I have been asking myself for years! I thought we would retired in Colorado, but arthritis nixed that for us for sure. After living all over the world in all areas of the country I have concluded there is no perfect place for anyone. I envy you your life right not, so carefree, but not without stress as well. I say retire near enough to your family because in the end family is what matters most! At least to me. However if I had all the money in the world, I might retire to Pebble Beach off the Monterrey Peninsula. I watched the golf there last weekend and decided it looked like heaven! I guess I should stop now, Linda, so keep discussing it over coffee and let all of us know when you finally decide. After all, gypsies were very popular for a long time and still are in some countries. Love your pictures by the way, gorgeous as always! Hugs for a bright, cheery Wednesday!

Hello Linda!:) I have always lived in the country, but only live 25mins drive to the coast, so get the best of both places. Our town is also a busy market town with lots going on, so I don't need anything else. Very large cities are good for visits though. Your photos are as always awsome, and the last shot is breathtaking.

That is an age old question, where to live, no place is perfect but you will know it when it comes. Beautiful choices here to look at Linda.

I can NOT believe it's been 2 years already since you packed up and hit the road! WOW! Hmmmm, altho that little cottage with the cute little picket fence looks so wonderful...I would opt to get an apartment in the city. I would just love to be able to walk out my front door and hit up a coffee shop, deli, restaurant, bookstore, etc. AND...people watch with my camera. Yep, that would be my choice. The Better Half? He is totally "Green Acres" if ya know what I mean :) Thanks for joining in at Song-ography!

What an adventure you've had for the past 2 years. You've seen lots of amazing sights. I prefer living in a small town myself.
Just loved your photos here today.

I kind of have both side in me too, sometimes I would miss NYC and Singapore like crazy, and sometimes I really crave for the quietness in the country. Beautiful shots Linda!

Such beautiful, dreamy, amazing photos, Linda! I'd definitely choose the country. Already surfing for a place close to my hubby's job. We want chickens and goats and bunnies and... maybe... if our budget can ever afford them, horses. What I wouldn't give. Sigh. It would be a dream come true and a place I'd love to watch my kiddos grow and come back to. Thanks for making me dream a little tonight ;). It just seems so far away. I've tried not to think about it much. Have a great night!

Beautiful pictures, you have visited some great places, hard to decide where to settle. Maybe one day you will arrive somewhere a just know it is right. Happy travels,

I love them both, it is a very hard decision indeed!

I can't believe it's been almost 2 years!! Lovely photos Linda ... I always dreamt of a little place in the country where I could have all number of cats, dogs and things roaming ... 20 years ago it would have been idyllic ... It's only when you get older that you perhaps need to be nearer hospitals and things ... So if It were me ... I go for country ... you can always move back to the city later.

Gorgeous photos Linda! We live in such a beautiful country with so many choices, why settle down? :) Be safe!

Hi Linda, All your photos make me want to be in just that place! Actually, we love where we live in the mountains of CO, but it's just a short drive to get our city fix. We love to travel to other areas, but we always love coming back to our home in Breckenridge.

Terry said...

I think rural, but close enough to the city when a little excitement is required! But not too rural as we did that and as you get older things like a possible trip to the hospital play a part in decisions. Love your photos! Hugs!

Audrey Pettit said...

I have no clue!! I am like you, I am drawn to both.......but I think ultimately, I'd want a mixture. Not pure country, and not pure city. Haha. What a hard decision! LOVE your photos!

Davi said...

Love all the wonderful photos Linda, such a exciting life to travel and see so many places!! City or country what a decision! There are lots of great quiet country spots but yet close enough to the city to be able to enjoy both worlds. My sis lives is such a place! Hard decision huh :)

All shots are great but #1 & #2 are outstanding... so nice!

A perfect world for me would be a country view and the peace and quiet that comes with it...rolling pasture on one side of my house and giant redwood trees on the other...perhaps the ocean in the backyard...and then something big like NYC in walking distance. But then there goes our peace and quiet if it's in walking distance, right?

Tough question. Your photos are gorgeous Linda! I can't believe it's been two years!!! You have had so many blessings and it's been wonderful to see. Thanks for sharing your world with us!

I don't think I would ever live anywhere else although I might have a few second thoughts if I was ever given the opportunity to live somewhere in Great Britain, preferably the country parts. Always a joy to see your lovely photos. Hugs!

I often ask myself the same question - decent sized country town or rural? Not keen on the big cities. Lovely set of photos Linda

beautiful photos Linda! Safe travels!

Lisa Gordon said...

Ooooo, that's a tough choice for sure.
I would choose country, BUT only if I could get into the city in a relatively short period of time. I happen to love NYC, and since I am just under 3 hours from there, it is perfect for me.

Cannot believe you 'guys" have been on the road for almost 2 years now. It all goes by so quickly.

Have a wonderful week ahead, my friend. xo.

Hi, Linda! Beautiful photos. I want to live wherever my daughter is! It's hard living away from her. Have a lovely week!

Gail Dixon said...

Has it been 2 years already? Gosh, it seems like just last summer you were starting that adventure!

I'd love to live near the mountains and somewhere that doesn't get brutally hot in the summer. Low humidity. Wherever that is, that's where I want to be!

If you're a social person you might enjoy city life better, but if you like peace and quiet, then country life would be the answer.

While we are currently firmly anchored on a homestead we've built ourselves and in the woods where we love to be, we too are ALWAYS thinking and talking about where we want to end up and put down new roots. I could never live in a city. Though I enjoy aspects of visiting them, I've lived in remote rural areas all my life and love the wild, untouched lands.. and the peace and quiet. But I don't wish to be as remotely located as my husband would lean toward either. My ideal would be to live in our privacy outside a quaint, artsy, coastal town on the upper west coast. My mind is drifting off to dreamland as I type it. :)
