Living the Dream

With the weather being windy and hot I have
been spending a little bit more time inside, playing in my Art Journal.

I have been wanting to paint a mixed media canvas
with a trailer on it, so I thought I would give it
a try in my Journal before I tried it on a canvas.

This page was done with all sorts of mediums.
I used sheet music paper along with book paper to make the trailer, trees, and Sun.
Then watercolors and acrylic along with oil pastels to paint my page.

Let me tell you I can waste away a whole day listening to music
and getting lost in my thoughts as I paint in my journal.

The only problem I have is that I feel like I get stuck.
I feel like my pages need more.  So I have a handful of
pages I am trying to figure out what to do with.
I'm sure the more pages I do, I will get more comfortable with
what to do.  We shall see.

I also have a couple of sketches I want share with you.
While on vacation my Daughter and I decided to do a "Face Off".

We found a face on pinterest and  then had a contest: Who could
draw it the best..  It was so much fun.

                                 My Daughters sketch                                            My sketch

As you can see my daughter can draw much better than me.
But when it was all done we had to laugh at how different the faces
looked.  Were we even looking at the same photo for inspiration??

Well, that's all I have for you right now. I do have another mixed media
Trailer to share with you, that's after I put the final touches on it.

I do hope everyone is enjoying their summer or winter
depending on where you live.

Till next time~

Both sketches are quite wonderful, but the eyes on the one your DD did are incredible! Love your little camper and soon you will be hitting the open road! Funny how I love the sun and all that, but hide inside when it is hot! That heat can really wipe you out! Hugs!

LOVE your trailer creation! The sky and trees.. the sun and foreground.. all of it.
And that's a brilliant exercise, your "Face Off."
I had an art teacher who often made us draw what we see.. I always enjoyed it, and it's amazing how differently we all see things.

Sounds like you and your daughter have such fun together. When Mike and I go to an auction I usually take my small sketchbook and I sketch people and ask Mike to identify them in the crowd. When he can, I know I've done a good job. Have a wonderful day Linda.

What a fun journal page. Those vintage RV's are popping up everywhere right now. I even used one on a card.

I think its perfection. It doesn't need anything else. It reminds me of a friend I had at work who did beautiful watercolors. She painted a teddy bear picture for our son's nursery. She showed it to me one time and told me she was not happy with it -- she needed to add something. That never happened. I never got the painting and our son is now 23 years old. Ha!

Beautiful page, Linda, I love your trailer! I am sure you are finding a simpler life enjoyable but strange! As for the pages, start looking at what you photograph in layers.I love both your drawings, one always draws with what the individual sees, and it usually reflects yourself! Have a wonderful weekend.
