A Chunky ATC..

I have something fun and different to show
you.. Well at least it's different for me.
It's a chunky ATC.  I had seen these on a couple of
other blogs and fell in love with them. So I have been saying
forever that I wanted to try one.

I started off with a sketch and then painted her
with Watercolors..  I had every intention of taking photos
of my process.  But got so caught up in the process that all
I got was a photo of the sketch.




So here she is all painted up and pretty.

A chunky ATC is a block of wood that is the same
size as a playing card.  Only a lot thicker.

I really enjoy every step of creating this
Little cutie..  I can't wait to try another.

I had fun using the crackle paint on the
block of wood.  I just love the look it gives.

After I was done painting my face.
I cut her out and used mod podge to
glue her down to the block. I have to say I just
love that mod podge.

And then used all kinds of embellishments
to make her all pretty.

I just wanted to give a shout out to a  couple of talented
gals who gave me the inspiration to create my chunky ATC.

Paint Party Friday...

Hello my sweet friends.
How has this week been treating you.
I have had a pretty nice week.

Besides the fact that I love to
beat my self up about my painting
ability..  I started this week off by watching
a video from my Life Book class. I am
quite behind.  But that's OK..   The particular
class that I watched was on Paint over collage.
You take a image from a magazine and paint
over it.  Well lets just say mine was a bit of a
disaster..  I am going to start that little project over.

I did promise myself I would quit being so hard
on myself.  If I am enjoying the process that's
all that really matters.  And I am enjoying learning
something way out of my comfort zone.
Never in a million years did I ever think I would
be painting.

So I watched another Youtube video
and came up with this little gal..




I really have so much to learn
I have the hardest time with Noses.
I am going to keep making them and I believe
sooner or later I will get the hang of it.
You know the saying Practice makes perfect.

Hair is another be problem.
I just couldn't get it right so I
added some white puffy paint dots to
give it a little something.

I have notice that I seem to gravitate
to neutral colors when I am painting.
Also my last couple of faces I had made really
big lips..  This time I made little lips and big eyes..

So here she is in all her glory.
On this painting I used almost all Watercolor crayons.
And just a little bit of acrylics.

Well my daughter just took some photos 

of this cutie pie.  He just melts my heart.

He always has a smile to give you!

Can you believe he is 11 months old already.

They are coming down here for his birthday.

I can't wait..

Sugar and cream..

Hello my friends.

Just a quick post for Paint Party Friday..




I have been having fun painting in my journal again.
Once again I used acrylic paints along with some
water-color crayons.

I did the drawing of the coffee cup onto some
book paper and then I cut it out and used
modge podge to apply it.
and then I used water-colors to paint it..

Like I said this was so much fun..
And the cool thing is I thought this up
all on my own.  So maybe I am finally learning
something..

We are out camping again at the lake..

So I will catch up with you when I get back..

Paint Party Friday!!!

Hello my friends..

As you know I am no longer watching my cutie-pie
Myles.  And I decided not to go back to work, So
what does one do all day.  Besides blog. hee hee..

I am taking a year long mixed media class
with Tam Laporte..   It's called Life Book.
Right up my ally!!   MAYBE!!
You can see the button on my sidebar!

Our first lesson we were to paint a
Goddess that represents us..



No laughing at my painting..  I a pretty new to doing
faces and let me tell you I could tear this apart all on my own.

I would like to introduce you to
Goddess Euphrosyne.
If I was a goddess I would have loved to
have been her!

She was the Goddess of Good Cheer, Joy, Mirth and Merriment.
Who wouldn't want to be her.  They say she liked to Drink wine and dance
 with her triplet sisters.. 

It has been a fun class so far.  At the end of the year
we will take all these pages and make a book!

I started out by sketching her and erasing her and sketching her
and erasing her..  after erasing her a million time I just
came to the conclusion this is how it was going to stay.
Then I used Water-soluble crayons for most of
this painting. I did use some acrylic for the hair.

Paint Party Friday!!!

I wanted to start by saying
THANK YOU
so much for all your sweet comments on my
last post..  I enjoyed reading all of them..
And I really do think it would be so nice if we could get
together for a morning coffee and a chat!
And by the looks of it I think you agree with me!!



So I am back to play along with
Paint Party Friday..

I have created another little canvas..
I really do enjoy painting these little pieces of mixed media Art.

They are only 2x2

I painted the background with pink acrylic paint and then

I added some pink scrapbook paper.. 

and then I layered the butterfly on top also cut out of
scrapbook paper.. Then more stamping, panting and even a little puff paint!!

But I think I am done with my little canvass for a while. 

I have been neglecting my Art journal..

Not to mention my card making..

How in the heck did that happen!

Hello..
How are you doing?

I have had a fun week didn't get a whole lot done.
Just getting settled back into my daily routine after being gone..




Well as you know I just love taking photos..  Just like a lot of you!
It really does help me notice all the beauty out there in this
big old world we live in.
Here is a photo of a bougainvillea I took in CA.  I just love the
color. I have never seen this color before..

I did manage to get into my craft room a play with some paints..

Has this ever happened to you....   You start off making one thing....

And its all going well..  Your liking it..

And then all of a sudden you go a whole different way..

Yes there was a flower on here a moment ago..

It just didn't feel right!

So this is what I ended up with.  How in the heck did that happen..

I kinda like it!

Playing with Paint!!

Hello my sweet friends..  I have been in such a great mood lately.

I think it has a little to do with all the rain we have been getting.

We don't get much of the wet stuff here in the Desert..

So when we do it make me sooooo happy!

So I have been playing in my journal again..

This is all so new to me.. 

I have been watching videos on how to draw faces

and then paint them.. 

Added some sheet music as a dress.. 

Topped her off with a pretty crown..
